Digital Interactive Victim Intake Simulator (DIVIS) This system enables Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) and Victim Advocate (VA) students to practice with a digital-based victim in realistic and highly emotional scenarios, similar to role-playing. This training application leverages existing research technology to help cultivate interpersonal communication skills, like rapport building and active listening, and sets out to improve upon classroom instruction by providing an engaging and interactive experience with a digital victim. SARC and VA trainees are able to use natural language to conduct an intake interview with a “Digital Victim”; the session is recorded, and a semi-autonomous After-Action Review provides logged playback of the student’s verbal and non-verbal actions for facilitator lead assessment. Click here to view/download the DIVIS Announcement. For more information: ict.usc.edu/research/projects/digital-interactive-victim-intake-simulator-divis/

SARC/VA Roles This 25 minute Army SHARP training video focuses on the role of Victim Advocate, (VA) and it’s primary target audience is SHARP professionals. It is currently being used at the Army SHARP Academy in the Foundation and Career Courses. Students experience a day in the life of a SHARP VA via a scenario where a VA responds to sexual assault of an Army Soldier. The objective of the video is to teach new SARC and VA’s about their role and best practices in the SHARP program, as well as to give them a peek into what it is like and what it takes to do the job. The scenario story is fictitious and is supported with interviews of actual experienced Army SARC and VA’s who share their thoughts and experiences on being a Victim Advocate, to round out the visual training experience.
Online Conduct Online Conduct targets the expanding problem of sexual harassment into the social media technologies. Serves as a reminder that dignity and respect must be extended to social media behavior and actions.
Digital Survivor of Sexual Assault (DS2A) The Digital Survivor of Sexual Assault (DS2A) system allows Soldiers to interact with a digital Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) guest speaker and hear their stories. First-person stories are one of the most powerful ways people share information, connect with, and learn from each other. As part of the ongoing SHARP training, survivors of sexual assault often speak to large groups of Soldiers. Unfortunately, not every Soldier who would benefit from interacting with a survivor will have this opportunity. DS2A allows more soldiers to interact with a speaker and preserves the emotional impact of hearing about the speaker’s experience. Soldiers can interact with the digital survivor and hear the speaker’s stories as direct responses to their own questions. DS2A is a powerful new tool for instructors at the Army SHARP Academy. The system enables new SHARP personnel, as well as selected Army leaders, to participate in conversations on SHARP topics through the lens of a survivor’s firsthand account. DS2A can play an important role in the prevention of sexual harassment and sexual assault by enabling new Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs) and Victim Advocates (VAs) to interact with a sexual assault survivor and hear the survivor’s stories in a non-confrontational environment. The experience may help SHARP professionals understand how to better support victims, and perform their prevention and response duties. It can also help Army leaders understand the impact that incidents of sexual assault and retaliation can have on an individual Soldier and unit readiness. Click here for more information.
SHARP Challenge Room Constructing and executing a SHARP Challenge Room provides an engaging and unique way to educate Soldiers and Army Civilians by reinforcing critical SHARP knowledge and skills. Clue and vignette responses are based on current Army policy and references. The desired outcome is that participants will demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Army's SHARP program. Please note the Challenge Room Training Support Package (TSP), as it is written, is a supplemental training package that commands can utilize to provide additional SHARP Training. It is not mandatory, but it is an available approved supplemental resource. As a standalone product, it does not meet the requirement for SHARP's Annual Refresher Training (ART). Newcomer SHARP Orientation TSP This training provides standardized means for units to effectively integrate newly-arrived Soldiers and leaders into local implementation of the Army SHARP program. Properly implemented reception and integration procedures serve to increase protective factors and mitigate risk factors for all demographics, but particularly those populations at heightened risk for victimization or perpetration of sexual harassment and sexual assault. Focused orientation compliments other forms of SHARP education and training by addressing factors that are specific to unit(s) and their local environment. Newcomer SHARP Orientation does not represent a replacement for Annual Refresher Training, and should not mirror the content of Annual Refresher Training. ELITE ELITE SHARP POST ELITE SHARP BRAVE Click here to download registration instructions for ELITE The ELITE SHARP Command Team Trainer (CTT) module is used to train Army Command Teams on their unique roles and responsibilities in implementing the Army SHARP program within their organizations. The ELITE SHARP POST module is used to educate Army Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs) and Victim Advocates (VAs) on their roles and responsibilities related to prevention and outreach when supporting the Commander and other SHARP stakeholders responsible for implementing the SHARP Program. The ELITE SHARP BRAVE module trains Army junior leaders to successfully intervene when observing behavior that could lead to potential incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault. The instructional framework for all ELITE training modules is divided into three segments -- an up-front instructional module; animated, demonstration vignettes; and a practice scenario environment. Performance is assessed throughout the training and feedback is provided in a self-directed, After Action Review. NOTE - ELITE POST contains an outdated image of the "Continuum of Harm", as well as the outdated guidance that SHARP Professionals will lead SHARP Annual Refresher Training. In accordance with AR 600-52, SHARP Annual Refresher Training will be conducted through small-group, leader-led facilitation with the assistance of a SHARP Professional.
